Dear members,

As part of our ongoing efforts to encourage participation in Instruct's offerings, I am pleased to invite you to an upcoming Instruct-RI Hubs hybrid course on Electron Tomography and Subtomogram Averaging, which will take place from December 10–13, 2024.

What is Instruct?
Instruct is a pan-European research infrastructure that provides access to cutting-edge structural biology technologies and expertise. It facilitates collaboration and supports the scientific community in accessing state-of-the-art instrumentation, training, and resources for structural biology research.

Course Overview:

The course covers the full workflow of Electron Tomography (ET), from aligning tilt series and reconstructing 3D tomograms to subtomogram averaging and segmentation. These techniques are essential for pinpointing macromolecules in electron tomograms, leading to accurate subtomogram extraction and averaging, a method that has achieved resolutions between 20 to 3 Å.

Who Should Attend:

The course is designed for researchers at all levels interested in adopting electron microscopy for structural biology applications, including those working in infrastructure facilities. It includes practical sessions on image processing algorithms for biological structures, utilizing software such as Scipion and Dynamo.

Key Details:

  • Dates: December 10–13, 2024, from 16:00 to 21:30 Israel Winter Time (IST) each day
